Inner Practice: Follow Your Heart

We live in a left brained dominant world. Numbers, knowledges, information, status, power, certifications are celebrated and emphasized, fueling the drive of the economy in the modern world.

While there is nothing wrong about it, but we dystrophy the intuitive artistic side of the human development in the process. The problem is in the imbalance in valuing the thinking from the brain and disregarding the feeling from the heart.

Having to study so much for my life and grown up in an environment which is solely result oriented, I still often find myself trapped in the chase for logical reasoning in substantiating decision makings, assessments and evaluations in clinical practice and even in life, which often did not give the best outcome based on logic. This was often joked about by some of my friends as my gift and my curse. And it takes effort, practice and reminders from good people to bring my energy down from my brain to my heart, which often lead to beautiful amazing outcomes.

We often say “Go with the flow”. This flow comes from the feeling within you. The “feeling right” feel. And this feeling comes from the heart, not from the brain. And so very often, following the heart brings happiness while thinking kills happiness.

So it really does not matter how much information is presented to our naked eye, or how educated you are. In fact that fogs up the reality even more.

In your slowing down for the new year, allow your heart to speak to you uninterrupted by the brain. You will be surprised what you will hear.
