TCM Basics 101: The Wrong Way to Deal with “Pu Zua” (Dialect term for Heatiness)
From the previous post, you should be empowered and dymystified about “pu zua” by now.
So this leads us to how people have been dealing with this non-life-threatening yet irritating condition THE WRONG WAY, mostly.
Well, this works for Scenario 1 in the mechanism of ‘pu zua’ (Go see previous post if you have not) but not for Scenario 2. In fact, it will worsen the condition should the ‘pu zua’ situation develops via Scenario 2.
Yin energy is formed via food transformation when the body is in ‘rest and digest’ mode. Which is why when you are stressed, when you are not sleeping and resting well, the body cannot produce Yin energy to nourish, moisten and keeping the body soft.
Taking more cooling foods with the intention of clearing ‘heatiness/pu zua’ of the body actually douses the digestion fire which is needed to transform food into Yin energy. Read more about Weight Gain from Digestion-induced Dampness here.
So the result is Yin energy is much reduced and Yang energy ‘relatively increased’, if more cooling foods and drinks are taken. On the outside, the person will actually feel worse of the symptoms of heatiness, headaches, ulcers, pimples and acne.
Right Way to Deal with ‘Pu Zua’
So the right way to deal with Pu Zua: Identify the right mechanism for your ‘Pu Zua” condition with the right expertise and then take the right herbal medications to prevent worsening the imbalance between Yin and Yang. Because although it is not life threatening or dangerous, but the condition can prolong indefinitely if you handle it wrongly.
