Inner Practice Series: Presence

This series is going to be one which I believe is for individual self development which I think is so lacked in our current society today, especially where I am living right now, where the outer material world is much  emphasized and people just enjoy scrambling in the rat race.

I recently learnt of the term “Puja of attention”, which means the offering of attention as the best gift. I cannot agree more.

I had once volunteered for a period of time with a visual impaired running group and what struck me the most even until today was the words from one visually impaired participant. She said, “You don’t need to pull or push us to support us, just your presence is enough.”

True enough, just being with someone without the need to impose any dogma or suggestion is the best gift we can give to anyone. In other words,

Your presence is good enough. Your very existence is worthy.

Practice: Sit on your couch or a pillow and ask yourself the question: Where can I make a difference? Who can I offer myself to as a companion for an afternoon, or evening or whatever? Is there a bored kid, lonely elder, overwhelmed friend or someone struggling with a disability who could use my love and support? Reach out and touch someone.
