TCM Basics 101: Ways of Falling Ill

So now that you know what you are made of in the energy medicine world, which are far beyond cells and molecules, let’s explore how you can actually fall ill and become sick.

In Western Medicine, basically it is about bacteria and viruses attacking the system or genetics creating an internal world of havoc within. Simple as that. Period.

In TCM and alternative medicine world, things are not as simple as that of our Western counterpart. Because as we have seen before, your composition make up goes beyond flesh and blood, so the way how to tip the system off balance will definitely encompass factors of higher complexity.

In TCM, the ancestors loved to express themselves in poetic verses. And to fall ill, it can come from these:

外感六淫

内伤七情

饮食不节

劳逸失度

And in translation, it says:

ways-of-falling-ill-tcm

“Six exogenous (external) pathogenic factors, Seven endogenous (internal) emotional factors, Non regulation of diet, Imbalance between rest and work”

Now TCM and energetic medicines expanded the mechanisms and reasons for falling ill much wider as you can see that it brought in factors that exists in us as humans, such as emotions. This is something given no status in medicines that mechanized human so that standard treatment protocols can be meted out easily.
